maschera al ferro
Italian for “iron mask,” the Maschera al Ferro ($140 suggested, 50 minutes)
facial from Dermophisiologique provides spa-goers with a taste of heavy-metal
healing. The session involves the application of a mask that contains iron
micro-spheres. The mask is removed with a magnet that divides it into two
parts by drawing out the iron particles along with impurities and dead skin
cells. All that’s left on the skin’s surface is a soothing white replenishing
cream that can be massaged deeply into the skin, leaving the face feeling soft
and smooth. Clients at several spas, including Cosmo & Company (West
Palm Beach, FL), Completely Bare (Palm Beach, FL), and RJ Miller Salon
(Nantucket, MA), are already being drawn to this mystifying metallic treatment.
