DESTINATIONS
Natural Wonder
A sight to behold surrounded by towering limestone
cliffs, lush vegetation, and the azure waters of
the Andaman Sea, Rayavadee (Krabe) transports
visitors to their own private paradise with a host of
charming pavilions and villas with mushroom-like
roofs, scattered throughout the 26-acre property.
While guests have a virtually limitless number of
activities to occupy their time, one that often tops
the list is a visit to Rayavadee Spa, a member of
The Leading Spas of the World. Designed to blend
seamlessly with the property’s tropical gardens,
the inviting spa welcomes guests to its spacious
reception area with life-size brass monkeys meant
to represent the wild ones frequently seen frolicking around the resort. Nature is also on display in
the seven treatment suites where bronzed banana
leaves hang over the treatment tables, and frescoes
of natural scenes adorn the walls of the spa. There,
guests indulge in treatments inspired by established
Thai healing practices. Both the Thai Herbal Wrap
($82, 60 minutes) and the Thai Traditional Herbal
Scrub ($59, 45 minutes) incorporate indigenous
herbs and spices, such as cumin, galangal root,
kaffir lime, lemongrass, and ginger. Says spa manager Khun Anchalee Nakthavol, “In keeping with
traditional Thai beliefs, the spa strives to focus
on the mental, spiritual, and emotional aspects of
individuals rather than just the physical aspects of
their well-being.”—Heather Mikesell
Inspired by the setting, the
treatment rooms (here and

banana leaves and plaster
frescoes of natural scenes.
