DESTINATIONS
Bliss in the Bay
Guests of Six Senses Hideaway Yao Noi take the concept of truly
escaping to an entirely different level. Known for countless
clusters of uninhabited limestone islands, the Pha Nga Bay
is the property’s stunning backdrop. From a port on the east
side of Phuket, guests board one of Six Senses’ speedboats that
maneuvers through the bay for 40 minutes before approaching
the tiny island of Yao Noi. The voyage continues once guests
reach the island and are met at the welcome dock by a golf cart
that is ready to zip them through a meandering web of narrow
paths and rich foliage to their own cozy thatched-roof villa.
Imparting a rustic feel, the
24-acre Six Senses Hideaway
Yao Noi is an eco-friendly
escape that features every
five-star convenience and
is a wonderful example of
understated elegance.
While people can unwind virtually anywhere on Yao
Noi, the Six Senses Spa is rarely overlooked. Like the rest of
the structures on the island, the spa was constructed using
local techniques and natural materials and is modeled after
traditional Asian longhouses. Nestled within the flora of Yao
Noi, the spa’s comprehensive menu gives a taste of the island.
Spa-goers can recover from their travels with the Detoxifier
($117, 80 minutes), which soothes sore muscles with a gentle
massage and smoothes the skin with a coconut-shell exfoliation.
The Tropical Facial ($77, 50 minutes) incorporates cucumber,
honey, and lemongrass from local gardens in a treatment that is
appropriate for all skin types. For those interested in sampling
native modalities, the Thai Herbal Massage ($109, 80 minutes)
features the use of heated herbal poultices to stimulate circulation and reenergize the body. Six Senses Hideaway Yao Noi
certainly offers its guests a true sense of place and a quiet corner
of the world where they can retreat.—C.D.
